This
October don’t miss the chance to photograph alongside pro photographer
‘Jonathan Taylor’. Based out of UK and Thailand Jonathan will mentor you in
Mumbai in a 2 day workshop where you can learn the best ways to master the art
of street photography and documentary building.
Allow
Jonathan to guide you in creating compelling images where on Day One you will
be taught how to develop an understanding of the genre of photographing people
in a street environment. You will learn how to develop personal skills in
directing people from being able to approach them with confidence and instill a
sense of confidence with your subject when you are shooting alone on a street.
The
workshop will then engage in teaching you ‘Compositional People Photography’ a
similar to the techniques Henri Cartier-Bresson who would choose the
composition and then wait for people to fill the space. Later the workshop will
proceed on how to use strong leading lines, framing and knowing essential
technical skills to work confidently and fluently with people.
We
will begin Day Two by heading out early and walking down the lanes of Chor
Bazar (Thieve’s Market) in Mumbai under Jonathan’s guidance where the stories
are waiting to be unfolded before your lenses. Post a yummy breakfast at the
local Iranian bakery we will hop into our classroom discussing about
‘Environmental Portrait Photography’ a relatively old but one of the most
difficult forms of photography in which a single frame speaks eloquently about
the life of the person. Later we will move on to study ‘Character Study
Portraiture’ in which a selection of five to ten images are combined, starting
with a opening establishing image, moving on to action pictures, details and a
closing frame. A day in the life approach to people photography used very
finely by Eugene Smith.
We
will end the workshop on the second day by a photo critique session where all
participants will showcase their work on the projector that will be reviewed by
Jonathan and other participants.
